Here is a worksheet I created to help students develop the relationship between unit fractions and whole numbers. I left it in word so you will be able to edit the worksheet as needed. My students draw a diagram, use repeated addition, and some times, are unable to tell me how they find the answer, which is why I added the question "how did you figure out the number?. Being able to communicate mathematical ideas is a big deal, so I want them to have as much experience as possible. I will use this worksheet with different quantities until students gain mastery of the concept. Can be used whole class, small group, or for individual reteach.
