Phonological awareness is an umbrella, so to speak, over six developmental levels:
Each set of activities covers these six developmental levels for building a solid foundation in spelling and reading.
I taught First Grade for 14 years and have the pleasure of teaching students with Dyslexia for the past 7 years. I have compiled everything I have learned, taught and researched for developing strong foundations for spelling and reading over the years into each of the sets in the
“Building Great Spellers & Readers” Bundle.
I’ve included Reward/Incentive Sheets
you may use if you would like.
Each activity builds skills for the activities in each set.
Reading is an important part of this process. It is incorporated into every set to varying degrees
If your child is an emerging or continues to struggle with reading,
Use an online library such as www.learningally.org or www.bookshare.org. Also, make reading fun and create great memories by reading to your child.
Hearing good, fluent reading is an important part to the development of reading skills.
I have included a Book List for Reading all year long.
The most important thing is making this bundle of helpful & effective activities work for your child. Take your time and have fun with the activities. Reinforcement is key. Repeat activities daily or weekly if needed. Each activity is building on your child’s foundation for spelling and reading development, so take time for your child to become automatic with each skill and be able to apply it to another more challenging skill.
Enjoy these activities all throughout the year!
