Building Hearts: A Valentine's Day Activity allows students to practice their literacy and numeracy skills. It is an easy prep activity where differentiation is simple to do! It includes literacy and math practice for the primary classroom!
This activity can be used for a craft, center activity, early finisher work, or as an alternative to morning work.
The students may choose their choice of a topper for their hearts.
Option 1: allows the student to spell their name or spell sight words.
Option 2: allows students to put the numbers 1-20 in order, or put numbers in order by 10s from 10 – 100/120.
Option 3: allows students to match pictures that share the same medial sounds.
Option 4: has a few different versions. There is a version for single digit numbers as well as teen numbers. It allows students to work with numbers, and show what they know. The hearts can be differentiated for each student, according to their ability. There are options for sketch, ten frame, even/odd, one more, one less, ten more and ten less.
Students can all work on the same activity, or if there are different skills that students need practice with, that can be done as well for differentiation.
This pack lends itself to a range of skills and grades, from Pre-K all the way to early 2nd grade.
