This resource uses Boomwhackers to prepare and present Fa, Ti, and the concepts of whole and half steps. Instead of comparing whole and half steps to a piano keyboard, this resource takes the approach of introducing "forever" half steps, building tetrachords, and showing how sharps and flats can be used to change the size of a step.
This resource is not intended to be presented in one lesson. Instead, it is intended to provide a framework for concepts that are often difficult for young students to understand. By color-coding the pitches to the ChromaNotes system used with Boomwhackers, students can play along and experiment with the steps, tetrachords, and scales they build.
An assessment page is included at the end.
