Matching 10: Students are looking for numbers that can be added together to make the sum of 10. (Follow up activity included!)


Matching 20: Students are looking for numbers that can be added together to make the sum of 20. (Follow up activity included!)


Make a Ten: Students use the “Make a Ten” strategy to find answers to math sentences. (Follow up activity included!)

- Game #2: Ten More: Triple Digit Numbers

- Game #3: Ten More: Triple Digit Numbers Crossing Hundreds

These activities can be used in conjunction with the following Common Core Standards:


Common Core Standards:

Kindergarten: K.OA.4 For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number.


First Grade: 1.OA.6 Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10.

1.NBT.5 Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count; explain the reasoning used.


Second Grade: 2.OA.2 Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.

2.NBT.2 Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s

2.NBT.8 Mentally add 10 or 100 to a given number 100-900, and mentally subtract 10 or 100 from a given number 100-900
