I have used this in my own classroom to help my reluctant writers and to challenge my stronger ones.
Mats and cards are color coded to help the children to map out or develop their sentences.
Mats with the blue background and white boxes are there to be used for children who no longer need the color coded mats. These blue mats can be combined to encourage students to write longer sentences.
The mats that are green, red, purple can be used with struggling students. This will make a basic sentence.
Longer and more complex sentences can be made by combining (attaching) The white, orange, green box mat with the red, purple, white mat. The white box at the beginning can be used for the words “the”, “a”, or “an” if needed. The last white box is for punctuation cards.
Differentiated sheets have also been provided for the children to write the sentences they have mapped out.
