After your first graders practice reading their Houghton Mifflin Journeys decodable reader (lessons 21-30 copyright 2011, 2014 and 2017) for the day, have them reread and practice sentence order by putting scrambled sentences together from the story! This activity reinforces beginning reading and writing skills, including punctuation, sentence structure, vocabulary, sight word recognition, and more! This is perfect for a center activity or small group lesson. Your students can first cut out the words, order them at their seats or on a small pocket chart, and then glue the words in order on another paper. This is a great partner activity too!
Included are scrambled sentences from lessons 21-30 (40 stories) from the 2011, 2014 and 2017 1st Grade Houghton Mifflin Reading Program.
