My middle schoolers LOVE playing Bananagrams so I designed this game companion to target vocabulary skills to make the game even more a-PEEL-ing!
This game companion features a set of game and score cards that turns word-making fun into a challenge to name synonyms, antonyms, word associations and build sentences using the words students create with the Bananagram letter tiles.
Students create word grids, crossword-style and then use these words to play a game. Students take turns drawing game cards, which direct them to choose one (or two) of their words and then name a synonym, antonym, related word, or generate a sentence. Students record their answers on the score cards, along with the number of bananas shown on the cards. Play continues for 5 rounds. The student with the highest number of points wins!
This game can easily be adapted to target just one learning target or four skills at once. Working just on synonyms? Just choose the synonym game cards and the synonym score card. Want more of a challenge? Use all of the game cards and The Whole Bunch score card.
*Newly added: Parts of Speech cards to help students identify their puzzle words as nouns, verbs, adjectives and prepositions.
This game companion can be used effectively with both single students and groups.
Included in this set:
36 Game Cards
12 Bonus Bunch Cards with Parts of Speech (noun, verb, adjective, preposition)
4 Parts of Speech Cards to assist students in creating their word puzzles
4 Sets of Score Cards (3 for targeted skills, 1 for open ended use)
