This is the first word building activity in this set. I will be adding additional activities. As I add activities the cost of the product will increase.
To prepare for this activity print enough strips of letters to match the number of students participating. You might want to print them on cardstock to make them a little sturdier. Cut apart each strip and place the letters in a snack sized plastic bag. Be sure you do not share the word on the top by accident! Please recycle the bags when you do the next activity.
A list of possible words is included. I eliminated words that I felt were beyond a 2 – 3 grade level. However, I encourage discussion about the meanings of any of the longer or less familiar words with the students.
Two pages of a possible word building lesson are scripted for your use. You can certainly create additional challenges for the students.
This is a great lesson for an individual student or for small groups. It would also be great for use in a homeschooling setting.
I am currently working on the words continents, yesterday, playground, and Thanksgiving. If you would like to suggest a word for an activity, I would glad build the activity.
