Students will evaluate the order and prioritize monumental life events as well as levels of inimacy in order to set future goals and more importantly to see the value of abstaining till the appropriate time. This activity includes student/parent discussion so that students discover their own individual family values and expectations. The timeline activity is also translated into spanish.
I use this tool before teaching Family Life (Sex Education) Unit to build a case for abstinence and encourage students to communicate with their parents/guardians about such sensitive and controversial topics before these potential events occur in their personal lives. I've had numerous parents thank me for this particular activity and wished it was available when they were youth.
