Ever want to create a deeper connection between your students and their families? To do so I have created a table talk book intended to build conversations between students and families over the dinner table. In this book children write about their learning daily and families are asked to find time each afternoon or evening to talk as a family, perhaps while preparing dinner, at the dinner table or in the car ride home. The time is intended to be a chance for the families to engage with each other.
Parents are partners in education and by talking with their children about their learning they are able to discover exactly where their child is academically.
We as teachers often hear parents say their child tells them school was “fine” or “good,” but we want to get beyond that into the deeper learning and engagement with the table talk book. This table talk book will enable you to build a better connection between learning in the classroom and discovery at home.
