Students will play with the monkeys as they build numbers with tens and ones. The teaching slides work well projected on a board. This allows students to either put magnetic manipulatives on the board or write with a pen on the board to show their understanding of how to build numbers. There are enough slides for everyone in a whole group lesson to have a turn. After the lesson on how to use these cards the students are ready to try it on their own. Print the cards as large mats or print 2 slides to a page and create flash card size pieces. Either option will work well for small guided groups and station work. There is a student response sheet to complete for homework, informal assessment or a formal assessment.
