**This activity is also available in my Bull Run Novel Study Unit
This activity has students cut and sort sentences from Bull Run, by Paul Fleischman. The sentences provided are examples of Figurative Language. Students then sort the sentence by type of Fig. Lang. and then for each sentence, they are given directions on how to identify specific parts of the sentence that are important. For example, for each simile the student must identify the two words being compared in the sentence. For a hyperbole, they must identify what is being exaggerated. For an idiom, they must identify the literal and figurative meaning.
ELACC5L5: Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.
