We all know that bulletin boards can be the most troubling task in a teacher’s life. What to put up? How to present the student’s work? What is my Principal looking for? Will it properly reflect the students’ progress throughout the year?
If there is anything I have learned about putting up a bulletin board, it is “Justification, Justification, Justification”. You want to ensure that when the Principal looks at the bulletin board, they know the task, the goal, what standards the work meets and how the learning was extended.
This document is a sample of a “Portfolio Cover” in which I staple to either bottom corner of every bulletin board. It contains all of the information necessary for Walkthrough observations, classroom environment checklists and Administration spot-checks. I usually base all of my bulletin boards on a book or a set of books that reflect how the lesson or project was taught and extended. I hope you enjoy!
