The Little Maple is a short play that can be used in the classroom for reader's theater or as part of your bully prevention program.
It's tapping time, and a little maple tree is hoping that this is the year he/she is big enough to be tapped to help make maple syrup. Some of the bigger trees in the forest aren't so kind to Little Maple.
Included with the script:
-Discussion questions about bullying
-Follow-up activity for students
-Templates for tree forms and buckets if performing with props
Many any extension activities can be done with this play including:
-Learning how maple syrup is made
-Discussions about trees and photosynthesis
-Field trips to sugar houses (if you live in maple syrup country)
-Invite syrup makers to your class
-Taste real maple syrup and compare it to store brands
