I don't know about you, but often times when students fill out a self-referral to see me at my K-6 building, it's because of a "bullying" incident.
The two biggest issues I run into regarding students reporting "bullying" are either:
(1) the incident is actually a conflict, not bullying, OR
(2) the student did not tell an adult immediately when they were feeling bullied or threatened, but instead waited a day (or possibly two, three, or even a week) to report it to me.
To help decipher self-referrals for school, friends, family, etc. versus bullying, I recently developed this Bullying Report information slip for students to fill out and leave in my mailbox if they feel they are being bullied. Similar to the self-referral slip, this gives me some background information that I can have before pulling the student out of class.
