PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Teach your students that bullying is wrong! October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and this freebie will get your students ready to combat bullying!

This freebie includes eight bullying scenario cards in both color and black and white. Students will have the chance to explain what they would do if they were involved in particular situations. Take it a step further, and have students role play each scenario, so they're prepared should they encounter a similar situation. Also included is a large ribbon for kids to decorate with a special anti-bullying message, statement, or slogan.

Included in this freebie:

+ "What Do You Do?” Game: Students will take turns reading 8 different bullying situations or questions in which they must explain what they would do if they were in that specific situation. (In color and black and white)

+ Design your very own ribbon for others to wear using the Depth and Complexity and Content Imperatives icons (this can also be done without icons). Create a contest in your room for the best slogan/motto/design, etc. This ribbon is included on two different pages. The first page asks students to use the Depth and Complexity/Content Imperative Icons to make their anti-bullying statement. The second page does not include using the icons in the directions.

+ 1 “Suggestions for Use” page with detailed explanations of how I use these activities in the classroom

This freebie is a part of my much larger bundle and includes the following:

+ 1 Depth and Complexity Note Taking Organizer
+3 Different Frames featuring Depth and Complexity (new icons included) and the Content Imperatives
+3 Frames (same as above) which include cooperative learning structures built in: Keep students engaged in a team dynamic as they learn to work together.
+ Task cards to use in addition to or instead of the frames (2 different styles): Use as a way to get students communicating with each other and practicing the icons
+ What can you do to make your school bully free? Writing Activity: Students will write about what they can do to make their school bully free and how one person can change another person’s life.
+ Mix-Pair-Share Depth and Complexity Style Bullying Activity: Students will get the chance to mix around the room and discuss bullying using the prompts of Depth and Complexity.
+ Design Your Own Bullying Depth and Complexity T-Shirt: Students use icons to illustrate and write about standing up to bullying!
+ Depth and Complexity and Content Imperative Chart with a short summary of each icon (including new prompts) to use for each activity
+ Anti Bullying Pennant: Kids can design their very own pennant to banish bullying!
+ Differing Depths: Teach what it means to be different, and why it’s okay! Your class will also brainstorm other words to use instead of “weird.”
+ Be an Icon, Not a Bully: Students get to create 3 different awards for 3 classmates for doing something positive or for having special qualities, and then meet with each classmate to read what they wrote.
+ Is it Bullying? After reading 6 different scenarios, kids will have to decide whether each situation describes bullying or not bullying.
+”What Do You Do?” Game: Students will take turns reading 16 different bullying situations or questions in which they must explain what they would do if they were there.
+ Bullying Board Game: Kids will race around the board answering questions and responding to topics about bullying
+ Spread Kindness/Fill 'Em with Kindness- 2 different activities in which students will spread kindness to others. One of the activities asks students to write their names inside the heart and rotate around the class to spread positivity to each person's heart. Students will write something kind in their classmates' hearts.
+Banish Bullying...Yourself: Kiddos will turn negative thoughts into positive ones.
+The Impact of Bullying: After reading about two bullying victims, students will use the Depth and Complexity icons to explain the impact bullying is having on each victim.
+ Design your very own ribbon for others to wear using the icons. Create a contest in your room for the best slogan/motto/design, etc.
+ Bullying is Complex: Assign small groups a bullying behavior (included in packet) and each group will answer the questions created with prompts of Depth and Complexity and prepare a creative presentation about the bullying behavior.
+ 2 “Suggestions for Use” pages with detailed explanations of how I use these activities in the classroom as well as information on the cooperative learning structures included
+ 1 page of bullying websites which offer articles, videos, and other resources to use to teach about bullying
