I chose the favorite rhythm game "Bumble Bee" and decided to take it to the next level. In addition to the original rhythmic lyrics, I have created a second verse for the use of steady beat. In the original game, once the student is “out” of the game they typically stand or sit outside the circle and tap the steady beat with rhythm sticks or by clapping their hands. Now you have a chance to not only keep them more involved but to increase the DOK level as well! Now when the student is “out” they will still clap the steady beat but they will also have to chant the Steady Beat verse while they do it. This will definitely require them to concentrate on what they are doing and not just watch their friends. It’s also a fun way for the student to say, “Hey, you stung me. Stay away from me!” Instead of being upset because they got “out”.
The addition of this new verse will challenge your students and make an old familiar game new again! Come check it out and please remember to leave me a rating and comment of what you think of this product as I am constantly striving to improve my products for my goal is to help teachers help our students.
Thank you and may the Bee not sting your knee!
