The 4th Grade Opinion Writing Lesson:
This opinion writing lesson plan is based on the Common Core Standards. It includes teacher instructions, student instructions, a student sample, and a list of possible writing topics for 4th graders. Student are introduced to a topic sentence followed by supporting reasons and examples. They are also given opinion words and phrases to help support their opinions. There is an extension activity that allows students to visualize opinion discussions in real-life based on the same topics they choose.
The Narrative Writing Lesson:
This lesson plan will guide 4th grade students step-by-step through writing a Common Core Narrative. It comes with specific vocabulary phrases and words that align with the Common Core Standards. Story setting, character development, plot events, sensory details, utilizing specific nouns/verbs, and much more are broken down for students. Your students will successfully navigate this important writing genre through both the story mapping and the student checklist.
