The 4th Grade Opinion Writing Lesson:
This opinion writing lesson plan is based on the Common Core Standards. It includes teacher instructions, student instructions, a student sample, and a list of possible writing topics for 4th graders. Student are introduced to a topic sentence followed by supporting reasons and examples. They are also given opinion words and phrases to help support their opinions. This easy-to-use teacher manual comes with a student sample you can show your students and mark up together. Everything you need to teach your students about opinion writing is right here! There is an extension activity that allows students to visualize opinion discussions in real-life based on the same topics they choose.

The Narrative Writing Lesson:
This lesson plan will guide 4th grade students step-by-step through writing a Common Core Narrative. It comes with specific vocabulary phrases and words that align with the Common Core Standards. Story setting, character development, plot events, sensory details, utilizing specific nouns/verbs, and much more are broken down for students. Your students will successfully navigate this important writing genre through both the story mapping and the student checklist. You won't ever want to teach narrative writing without this assignment again! There is also a neat extension activity for early finishers to give you time to confer with struggling writers.
This lesson can be used with either personal or fictional narratives.

Some of the elements included in the development and planning phases of the lesson are:

-Transition words and phrases for sequence and order of events
