Product Description
Notes:
This is used to introduce my quadratic unit. The first part (page 1) I do more direct instruction, reviewing standard form and a,b, and c. There is also a parabola drawn with the axis of symmetry and vertex labeled. I use the second part (pages 2 & 3) as an exploratory activity for the students and then have the students answer questions about different relationships they have found. The students use desmos for the exploratory activity. It covers the following topics:

-a, b, and c
-vertex
-if the vertex is a maximum or minimum
-concave up or down
-y-intercept
-axis of symmetry

Conclusion Question topics:
-relationship between equation and the vertex being a maximum or minimum
-if the parabola is concave up or down depending on if the vertex is maximum or minimum
-relationship between the equation and the y-intercept
-relationship between vertex and axis of symmetry

Homework:
This is used to for homework after the students complete the introduction to quadratics notes. It covers the following topics:

-Labeling the vertex and writing the coordinate point
-if the vertex is a maximum or minimum
-concave up or down
-y-intercept
-labeling the axis of symmetry and writing the equation of it
-finding an equation that matches all of these characteristics
-given 12 functions, determine which one is not quadratic, concave up, a vertex will be a minimum and a y-intercept of -5
