These no prep, no mess art history lessons and activities introduce students to five artists: Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, Georgia O'Keeffe, M.C. Escher and Keith Haring. These interactive worksheets and activities are made with classroom teacher in mind, but are a great staple to have in any art classroom. Great for Art Sub lessons as well. PICASSO:
This packet takes students through an understanding of the artist, his blue period, rose period and cubism, and then has students color his artwork using blue color schemes and rose color schemes. Students apply this knowledge afterwards to create their own art, breaking apart a guitar drawing with lines and filling in with blues, various other coloring sheets, a self-portrait with profile and straight on in the same portrait and a shattered portrait. Worksheet with examples of Picasso-style eyes, noses, mouths, eyebrows and face shapes included.

LICHTENSTEIN:
This packet takes students through an understanding of the artist, pop art and then has students color his artwork using four of the most common characteristics of his work: Benday Dots, Horizontal Lines, Primary Colors and black outlines. Students apply this knowledge afterwards to create their own art, first as an abstract piece then using their favorite comic strip frame.

This packet takes students through an understanding of the artist and then has students color similar artwork using common characteristics of her work blending analogous colors. Students apply this knowledge afterwards to create their own art, first using reference in the worksheet as a guide, then choosing their own flower for reference.

6 Interactive Coloring Sheets of Georgia O'Keeffe inspired art in black outline form
3 extension activities creating their own outline design of photographic reference in worksheet, finding their own flower to use as reference and creating their line design on worksheet, finally creating a line design from a close-up flower and re-creating it large in Sharpie painting the final.

ESCHER:
This packet takes students through an understanding of the artist and the concept of tessellations. Multiple coloring sheets of the artist's work, tessellations and impossible objects are included. Students then apply their knowledge to create their own tessellation design through cutting and taping a square and tracing it onto the worksheet included, then by drawing a tessellation by shape on a worksheet and finally each student will color a butterfly that will be used to create a collaborative display of butterfly art for the culminating project.

This packet takes students through an understanding of the artist, what social issues are and how his art was about social change. Students color sheets using similar colors and patterns as Haring answering questions about the social issues that Haring were trying to convey. Students also learn to draw in the style of Haring with a guided drawing sheet. Finally students apply this knowledge to create their own art based on a social concern of their own.
