Product Description
This is a bundle of three, highly animated, power point presentation on the significant events during the Winter of 1777 that saw the Colonial Army survive the Winter at Valley Forge with two unlikely heroes; Marquis de Lafayette from France and the Baron von Steuben from Germany. Both became valuable allies to George Washington and the American people.

There are a total of 43 slides in the presentations, all of which are editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.

In the fall of 1777, the Continental Army moved south from NJ to defend the capital of Philadelphia from the advancing forces of General Howe. Washington was decisively defeated, at Brandywine Station and the Continental Congress fled the city. After outmaneuvering Washington, Howe entered Philadelphia unopposed. Washington struck at Germantown on October 4th, but was again defeated. With the campaign season ending and cold weather rapidly approaching, Washington moved his army into winter quarters.

The darkest time of the war for Washington and the Continental Army turned out to be the winter of 1777 at Valley Forge, PA. The 11,000-man force went into winter quarters and over the next 6 months suffered thousands of deaths, mostly from disease. If it were not for Lafayette and Baron von Steuben, the American Revolutionary war would likely have been lost. Through their leadership, the army emerged from the winter still intact and in relatively good order and successfully fought the British to a draw at the Battle of Monmouth.
