Product Description
In this a bundle of three separate power point presentations on The Middle Ages: Medical Treatments, The Black Death and The Great Famine of 1315-1317 that occurred during the Middle Ages. The combined presentation includes 43 slides that are highly animated and editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.

Medieval Medicine was extremely basic in an era when terrible illnesses such as the "Black Death" were killing nearly one third of the population. Physicians had no idea what caused the terrible illnesses and diseases. The Catholic Church believed that illnesses were a punishment from God for sinful behavior. There were no Antibiotics during the Medieval times of the Middle Ages and it was almost impossible to cure illness and diseases without them.

The Black Death arrived in Europe by sea in October 1347 when 12 Genoese trading ships docked at the Sicilian port of Messina after a long journey through the Black Sea. The people who gathered on the docks to greet the ships were met with a horrifying surprise: Most of the sailors aboard the ships were dead, and those who were still alive were gravely ill.

The Sicilian authorities hastily ordered the fleet of “death ships” out of the harbor, but it was too late: Over the next five years, the mysterious Black Death would kill more than 20 million people in Europe–almost one-third of the continent’s population.

The Great Famine of 1315–1317 was the first of a series of large-scale crises that struck Europe early in the 14th century. Most of continental Europe from east to Russia south to Italy and Great Britain were affected. The famine caused millions of deaths over an extended number of years and marked a clear end to the period of growth and prosperity from the 11th to 13th centuries.

The famine also undermined confidence in Medieval governments, which failed to deal with its resulting crises. The Great Famine would later have consequences for future events in the 14th century, such as the Black Death when an already weakened population would be struck again.
