Jesus, the Christ (born circa 6 B.C.) in Bethlehem and founded Christianity. His life is recorded in the New Testament, more a theological document than a biography. According to Christians, Jesus is considered the incarnation of God; a claim he confirmed. That he was born of a virgin, Mary when conceived by the Holy Spirit, lived a sinless life, and was the Messiah as prophesied by Old Testament Jewish prophets.

He died as God’s sacrifice for the sins of all people, rose from the dead after three days, ascended back into heaven after 40 days, and promised to return to earth to take his followers to heaven and live eternally.

Abraham, is the founding father of the Jewish nation of Israel. He was a man of great faith and obedience to the will of God. Originally called Abram, or "exalted father," the Lord changed his name to Abraham or "father of a multitude," as a symbol of the covenant promise to multiply his descendants into a great nation that God would call his own.

God promised that He would make him a great nation and bless him and Abram accepted God's offer, and the b'rit or covenant between God and the Jewish people was established. This account is recorded in the Holy Bible, Old Testament, in Genesis 12.

Mohammed (ca. 570-632) was the founder of the religion of Islam and of a political unit at Medina that later developed into the Arab Empire, or Caliphate, and a multitude of successor states.

During a period of solitude about 610 Mohammed had 2 visions in which he beheld a supernatural being who said to him, "You are the Messenger of God.” He also found certain words "in his heart.. Friends helped to convince him that he was called to convey messages from God to the Arabs as Moses and Jesus had done to the Jews and Christians. Many people in Mecca, especially among the younger men, became followers of Mohammed or adherents of his religion of Islam (submission, namely to God). Islam has experienced phenomenal growth since its founding.

Islam is based on the "Five Pillars of Faith:" Testifying to God's Greatness, Daily Prayer, Charitable Giving, Fasting and the Pilgrimage to Mecca.
