From 1933 onward, anti-Jewish propaganda had flooded Germany. Under the skillful direction of Joseph Goebbels, his Nazi Propaganda Ministry churned out a ceaseless stream of leaflets, posters, newspaper articles, cartoons, newsreels, slides, movies, speeches, records, exhibits and radio pronouncements.

As a result, the accusations, denunciations and opinions which Hitler first expressed in his book, Mein Kampf, had become institutionalized, accepted as time-tested beliefs by all Nazis, taught as fact to impressionable youths, and drilled into the minds of eager-to-please SS recruits. Of particular note, was Hitler's oft-repeated claim that Jews everywhere were engaged in an international conspiracy to achieve world domination.

Coming into power, the Nazis quickly moved to ruthlessly suppress all real or potential opposition. The general public was intimidated through arbitrary psychological terror of special courts, especially during the first years of their existence, These courts "had a strong deterrent effect" against any form of political protest.

The first Nazi concentration camps were erected in Germany in March 1933 immediately after Hitler became Chancellor. Camps were established throughout the territories they controlled to hold and torture political opponents and union organizers.

The camps were initially under the control of Reich Interior Minister Wilhelm Frick and Prussian Acting Interior Minister Hermann Göring. Heinrich Himmler's SS took full control of the police and concentration camps in 1934–35. Himmler expanded the role of the camps to holding so-called "racially undesirable elements" of German society, such as Jews, criminals, homosexuals, and Romani people.

Holocaust scholars draw a distinction between concentration camps and extermination camps. Use of the word "concentration" came from the idea of using documents confining to one place a group of people who are in some way undesirable. Extermination camps, were established by the Nazis for the industrial-scale mass execution of the predominantly Jewish ghetto and concentration camp populations.

Hitler loathed Poland. The country had been set up by the victorious Allies at the end of World War I. He ordered every facet of Polish culture and national identity obliterated and the people reduced to slave laborers.

This policy was known as Lebensraum. It was a carefully conceived, step-by-step, process whereby the land was forcibly seized by Hitler's armies from its rightful inhabitants. This was followed by, Heinrich Himmler's SS, with the knowledge and cooperation of the Wehrmacht, moved in to conduct special actions in accordance with the racial policies of the Führer.

Finally, Nazi political authorities moved in to administer and exploit the conquered lands in cooperation with the SS and Wehrmacht.

In January 1933, after a bitter 10 year political struggle, Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany. During his rise to power, Hitler had repeatedly blamed the Jews for Germany's defeat in World War I and subsequent economic hardships.

Hitler also put forward racial theories asserting that Germans with fair skin, blond hair and blue eyes were the supreme form of human, or master race. The Jews, according to Hitler, were the racial opposite, and were actively engaged in an international conspiracy to keep this master race from assuming its rightful position as rulers of the world. Adolf Hitler and his Nazi followers attempted to exterminate the entire Jewish population of Europe.

They were gradually shut out of German society by the Nazis through a never-ending series of laws and decrees, culminating in the Nuremberg Laws of 1935 which deprived them of their German citizenship and forbade intermarriage with non-Jews.

1942, marked the beginning of mass murder on a scale unprecedented in all of human history. In January, 15 top Nazis convened the Wannsee Conference in Berlin to coordinate plans for the “Final Solution.” Before it was all over, the Germans had enacted World War II while systematically murdering over 6 million Jews.
