This download is a bundled package of my popular Rounding Numbers Poem and Rounding Numbers Hangman Game.
Rounding Numbers Poem
When I taught middle school math, I needed a way for students to remember all aspects of rounding – especially when rounding decimal numbers. Most of the poems I found did not take in to account what you do with the digits following the number being rounded, nor did it provide a way to remember the different place values to help students find the digit they were rounding on. So, I wrote my own poem that covers all of that!
This rounding numbers poem can be used with any age student by removing the stanzas not needed for the lower grade levels.
Rounding Numbers Hangman Game
This game can be played by individual players and with partner pairs.
The object of the game is to have the least amount of hangman body parts drawn at the end of the game.
Place the provided rounding cards answer side down. One player from each team will round the number on the card to the place value specified. If playing as partner pairs, the other team player will check their answer or help them if they are unsure how to round. Once both teams have an answer for the card, the card is flipped to reveal the answer. Any team that has an incorrect answer must draw a hangman body part.
This game can also be used a math center activity where students can play individually or against each other during the center time.
