Students will be engaged with Bundle as he is finding bones to bury. Bundle will let students know how many bones they need to group into a bundle so he can bury them.
Teachers can project slides on the board/screen to introduce the concept of bundling items into groups of 10. After the mini-lesson on bundling the students can come to the screen and take over the bundling process.
Students could then each have a printed slide. The student would read the number and be responsible for bundling the bones for Bundle! When they finish a number they could share their learning with another student. If they both agree that the bundling is correct they switch cards and work out the next number.
The same cards could be used in small groups, a math center, with a partner, as Tier Intervention support, or as differentiation.
Cards could also be printed, laminated, and cut apart. This would give students a bone recording sheet to use with any Bundle card they select from the draw pile. Students would work on their bone card to bundle the bones for Bundle. Once they have checked for accuracy the student would erase their work and select another Bundle card from the pile to complete.
