Have fun while practicing requesting and sequencing skills! Students can build a burger by choosing the order on their own or following a given sequence.
^^Included: Colorful pictures of burger parts and toppings to build a burger, a spatula, bbq fork, ketchup and mustard bottles, 2 background scenes (plate on a tablecloth, bbq grill), sequence arrows, and pictured words with the vocabulary “bottom bun, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, top bun, bbq grill, spatula, bbq fork, ketchup, mustard, I want, and”, and pictures and directions for assembly and use.
Fun: Use the background picture on p2 (BBQ) with the meat, spatula, and bbq fork to cook the burger patty! Discuss this is what happens before we can make the burger sandwich. They can have fun cooking and flipping the burger!
Sequencing: Use a long sentence strip (I use a long paint stick with female Velcro strip.) and the burger parts pictures and arrows to show the sequence you want your students to follow to build the burger. Use as many or as few as is appropriate for your student’s needs. Give the background picture on p3 to the student and he will build the burger on the plate and watch it grow taller and taller!
Requesting: Use a choice board or PECS book to display the pictured words. Use the sentence strip provided or the pictured words alone for students to create sentences to request parts to build their own burgers “I want cheese”, “cheese” “I want” + “cheese”
