Product Description

Phonics Boxes are activities formatted for the boxes available at Michaels that contain 16 smaller boxes. These activities can also be stored in 6x9 brown envelopes or any other way you would like to store them. Each “box” contains a sound or syllable sort and a flashcard activity/game. The cards can also be used just as flashcards and, if laminated, you can have your students use dry erase markers to highlight phonic concepts (such as vowels, digraphs, blends, etc.) There is a title card for the front of the box or envelope and directions. I use double-sided tape to adhere them. Please note there are many more “oa” words than “oe”. “oe” is generally used at the end of words.

Word Sort: Print, laminate, and cut out the header cards and the word cards. Students take turns sorting them by the spelling needed to complete the word.

“Burger Time” – Print, laminate, and cut out the hamburger patty word cards and the spoiler cards. Print one of the “building hamburger” cards for each student to build their burgers. Students take turns drawing a hamburger patty card and reading the word. If read correctly, the student keeps the card and places it on their “building” card. If the student gets a “Dog Ate Burger” card, they lose a hamburger patty. The student with the biggest hamburger is the winner!
