This is a three part unit by Reading Through History which covers elements of the Native American rights movement during the 1960s and 1970s. In this download, there are lessons detailing the impact of the book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, the founding and history of the American Indian Movement, and the Wounded Knee Incident in 1973. There is enough material here to cover 2-3 days of class, depending on if one or two lessons are done in a standard 50 minute class.
*My students typically finish a lesson in about 25 to 30 minutes. It allows for two lessons to be completed in a class period, or for introduction and discussion before or afterward.
