In this short video, the concept of using the subjunctive for the unknown (adjectival clauses) is reinforced through watching someone look for a house (describing it using the subjunctive) and a realtor saying what houses are available (describing them using the indicative). The language is supported through visuals and a humorous ending. Assign the Vampire Worksheet on Adjectival Clauses for the Unknown
for homework after students view the video.
When I show this video, I ask students to watch once and list the adjectives used to describe the house. We then review the list as a class and compare the house she is looking for with the houses that are available using the subjunctive versus indicative.
