Business Careers QR Code Scavenger Hunt: Get your students up and moving with this fun QR Code Scavenger Hunt! This activity is perfect for any business course teaching about careers. They will then identify the title of the career (found on another clue). This activity is a great way to start or end a career unit in a business class and get students thinking and collaborating. Students can work individually or in small groups based on your discretion.

Included in the PDF:

-Instructions (see below) and QR Code Guide (see preview)

-Clue and Answer List

-Student Answer Reporting Sheet

-Student Answer Reporting Sheet Key

-15 QR Codes with Clues and Answers

Activity Instructions:

•Print each of the following slides and an answer recording sheet for each student.

•Cut each slide in half so there is one QR code per sheet of paper.

•Mix up the cards so that they are NOT in the same order you printed them. Hang the QR codes around the classroom, a hallway, or the school. Allow more time for a larger area.

•Decide if you would like students to complete the activity individually, with a partner, or a small group. Assign partner(s) if desired.

•Ensure students have access to a QR code reader on a device. This can be completed with a phone, tablet, or laptop, as long as it has a camera.

•Instruct students that they can start at any QR code. They will scan the code to read the clue. They will then look around the room, hallway, or school to find the answer to the clue on another card. Be sure to tell students that the answer on the card should match the previous clue and it is not the answer to the clue on the same card. Students will move around the room, hallway, or school, recording each answer on the recording sheet.

•Students should record the business-related career for each clue. The first group to record all answers correctly is the winner.

•Close with a discussion about correct answers.

Business Career Cluster Research Project:Get students interested in a career in business with this career research project. Students will select 3 careers, 1 from each of the following career clusters: Business Administration and Management, Finance, and Marketing. Students will then create an infographic in Piktochart or presentation in Google Slides based on your request to display their research. Three websites are recommended in the assignment instructions to guide student research.

This project is perfect for an Introduction to Business and Marketing course. I prefer the infographic version of the project and it usually takes my students 2, 90-minute class periods to complete the project. At the conclusion students complete the reflective assignment on Socrative (a website students can access via any device, link included in teacher notes) in approximately 10-15 minutes. The following class period I like to have students share with their classmates information about 1 of their 3 careers.

This resource includes:

--Detailed assignment instructions for the project with a list of careers for students to choose

--Grading rubric for the project

Job Market Search Activity (Worksheet with Reflection Questions): Students will conduct a job market search for one career of their choice and browse online job boards to find postings for the career. Students will complete a worksheet on 5 job postings by recording various information (education/certification requirements, recommended years of experience, salary/benefits, and expected roles and responsibilities) from the posting. Students will then answer 4 questions to reflect on their findings.

Career Plan Project:Students will devise a career plan to reach their employment goals based upon graduation plans, education/training plans, and experience plans. Provide students with half a poster board or a large sheet of paper to illustrate a graphical representation of the steps they will need to take to reach their ultimate career goal. Students will also write a short-term, mid-term, and long-term goal to help them accomplish their ultimate career goal. This project would best be completed after students have already conducted career research.

This resource includes a 3-slide EDITABLE Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation with assignment instructions and an EDITABLE Microsoft Word rubric for grading the project. I use this project in my Introduction to Business and Marketing course, but this project could be used in a variety of different courses.

Workplace Success (Employability) Skills PowerPoint and Blog Article Project:  Prepare students for the workplace by teaching them basic skills to improve their employability. This product contains a brief EDITABLE Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation with discussion questions for each of the basic skills of professionalism, time management, organization, and teamwork. After reviewing workplace success skills students will work with a partner to write a blog-style article in Google Docs (or another word processing program) as a "how-to" for students about to enter the workplace. Also included is a simple EDITABLE rubric in Microsoft Word to grade the blog article.
