This is a case study that I give to my Business English (Advanced ESL) class in the first couple of weeks of the course.
It contains a scenario in a workplace setting with problems illustrated in the three-page story. One group of students will be the management team. Two or more groups will be consultants. The consultant groups will present their ideas on how to solve the problems that exist in the workplace, and the management team will present the following class where a winning consultant group will be chosen.
I've done this project with multiple classes and they've all enjoyed it. It's a great way to start a Business English course and students, given their competitive nature, normally want to do well and be chosen as the winning team.
*Note: In the classes prior to the presentations, I would have taught the class important expressions to use during presentations, common vocabulary dealing with problems and solutions, and other concepts regarding management that might be useful.
