Business Management- Organizational Chart- Fun PowerPoint Activity
Note: Thumbnail images a little messed up. Spacing off. Picture not over text.
In this activity students are given a fictional company and fictional information about their accounting department- what employee reports to whom. Students will use various PowerPoint tools- shape button, line shapes button, drawing tools, text box, etc. to create an organizational chart to show who reports to who. Students will then use the Internet to find pictures of various celebrities and then crop the pictures to just show the face. The celebrities will be who they want in each position in their accounting dept.- CEO, CFO, budget manager, controller, accountants, clerks, etc. This is a very fun assignment and gives the students the opportunity to not only be creative but to learn how organizational charts work. Students will love sharing these with their classmates when they are done. They love seeing what celebrities one another chose and they love playing around with color schemes, etc. to make their organizational chart fun and exciting. This assignment usually takes students about two class periods- about an hour and a half.
This document contains detailed directions about how to do the assignment, their task, and how to use the various tools they will need in PowerPoint.
Please see the preview file for an example. Everyone's charts will be different. I did not put in celebrity pictures I just put in smiley faces. Students would have actual pictures of celebrities. You can show students the sample if you want.
