This project is appropriate for an intro to business, business management, or entrepreneurship class. I specifically designed it for the intro to business class I teach and each ‘phase’ of the project builds upon what we are covering in class. E.g. our marketing unit lines up with when the marketing plan will be updated in this project. The class I use this with is a half-year course with juniors and seniors, but I could see it working well on the college level too.
Students really respond to this project. I assign random partners, trying to not saddle the more motivated students with students who lack more intrinsic motivation, although in my experience I’ve found that this project is a big enough part of their grade that even the more unmotivated students find some amount of motivation to do well.
I have the project broken down by phase and how I allot points. There are two rubrics, one for the final written plan and one for the in-class presentation. There are not rubrics for the earlier phases, I allot those points based on how well the requirements for each phase are fulfilled, with a splitting of the points approximately 80/20 between the written plan and the accompanying slides.
For Phase Zero of the project (generating business ideas) I LOVE this exercise by WhooperSwan here on TpT: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Business-Idea-Generator-1439072
