This is a scavenger hunt activity for around your school! This is a great back-to-school or team-building activity for your Spanish class. The students get out of the classroom, get to use their Spanish (Interpretive and Interpersonal modes), build friendships and have fun! The students follow the checklist in a race to finish first, and they take pictures on their phones/devices (if possible) of each item as they go. This is usually a 15-25 minute activity (depending on the size of your school and the speed of the students). This version of the product is intended for your novice through intermediate students, but I also have a different version of this for your intermediate through advanced level students.
Directions: (In the TL if possible for your classes), explain that you are doing a scavenger hunt outside of the classroom throughout the school. The students ideally are in groups of 3-4, and at least 1 student should have a phone/device to take photos (evidence). Remind the students that even though they’ll be outside of the classroom, they should still be speaking Spanish in their groups (support sheet included). It’s ideal to have a piece of candy or actual prize to motivate them, but also give them a cutoff time based on your school size, class agenda needs, etc. They should feel a sense of urgency!

*If possible, I recommend that you print the student scavenger hunt sheets in color. This will help the scaffolding pictures be more clearly visible.

Clipboard pass for teacher convenience (I recommend laminating and clipping to a clipboard. Then, just make copies of the next two slides to clip on top.)
