This is a fun game to play with young students during community helpers week! Each "driver" is given a "learner's license". One child plays the role of the police officer, who has to pull the drivers over! When the driver is pulled over, they must identify the sight word on their license. If they get it right, they can keep their license! If they don't know it, the police officer gets to keep their license. After everyone has had a turn, whoever has the most Learner's Licenses wins!!
Laminate each page and cut out the licenses for use in small group or large group literacy. I have a Police Officer's hat and vest and pretend steering wheels that we use to help my Pre-K students really get in to the game. Bonus points for creating a street out of tape on your floor for the drivers to follow!
