This is a great way to introduce, or summatively assess what your student's knowledge is regarding the Scientific Method. This project based learning idea is a great way to start your year in science, and scaffold your students towards a bigger project later on in the year.
Students will be required to research a common myth, and come up with an experiment, following the scientific method, to bust that myth. They will then have to report their findings to the class in an organized, exciting manner (cross curricular with language arts).
