This file includes 17 beehives and over 100 Bee picture cards for students to sort by isolating and identifying the final sound in the word. There is Two games in one! Game 1: Place bee hives in a pocket chart or on a flat surface. Put bee cards in a container. Students select a card, names the picture and identifies the ending sound. Then place the bee card under the bee hive with the letter that makes that sound. Game 2: (for 4-6 players) Place bee cards in a stack. Deal out 6 cards to each player and place the remaining cards in a stack face down in the middle. Players look at cards and if they have 4 cards that end with the same sound, players have a match and they place cards in a stack next to them. First player asks another player for a card that ends with the same sound as a card in their hand. If not then player picks a card from the discard pile. Whenever a player gets 4 cards with the same ending sound, player puts card in a pile next to them. Continue to play until a player has no more cards in their hand. Also included are the digraphs th, sh, and ch. A great Literacy Workstation or Reading Center. Students can work independently or in small cooperative learning groups. A perfect addition to your Spring Thematic Unit.
