Teach your little ones all about one of nature’s most beautiful insects – the butterfly! To facilitate class discussion and to introduce your students to the study of butterflies, project the first 18 slides onto your classroom whiteboard. Each has a butterfly fact and photo on it in question and answer format. Then have your students complete the worksheet, “Butterflies” where they will draw 6 legs and 2 antennae to the picture of the butterfly. Make a butterfly life cycle spin wheel (you will need one metal brad per wheel for this) showing all 4 life cycle stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), adult. Then make a toilet paper roll butterfly to take home! Pattern and photo included.
Make a gravity-defying Balancing Butterfly and use it to discuss gravity with your little ones. The butterfly can balance on the tiniest things- look at the photo above, I'm balancing it on the tip of a pencil eraser! My students were amazed by these!!
