This activity will help encourage talking about their problems and worries related to stress, as well as come up with helpful strategies and solutions to take care of themselves.
It is called “Butterflies in My Belly” because when someone is worried or anxious about something, their stomach might feel funny or tickle, as if butterflies are fluttering in your belly.
The butterflies are important to pay attention too because they are signs we are not feeling well, and are fluttering to tell us we need to do something to take care of ourselves.
The activity brings attention to specific worries with a variety of color and BW butterflies. Each butterfly represents the size of a child's self-identified worry. Strategies to cope when the butterflies are fluttering are to be hand drawn over each worry in an effort to tame the butterfly worries.
