Do your students need more explicit practice with facts and opinions? I use this activity alongside Reading Street's "I Am A Caterpillar" to help my students discover the difference between facts and opinions...while also learning some interesting tidbits about butterflies along the way! Students will just cut out each of the 6 sentences I have created that corresponds with the butterfly it is about, and then sort them according to whether it's a fact or opinion. Print these off in color for an eye-catching t-chart! This activity is easily completed whole-group, small-group, or independently depending on your students' abilities.
