The Butterfly Facts Paper Bag Books are a perfect companion to a science unit on butterflies, life cycles and metamorphosis. Students will write about what happens in each stage, compare/contrast the differences between a cocoon and chrysalis, explain what mimicry and migration are, and write facts about Monarch and Viceroy butterflies. I have included a few QR codes to use with your technology devices so students can do some research on these 2 types of butterflies (information about mimicry and migration is included in these websites, too!). There is also a template for students to write their own poem about butterflies and a direction page for writing an acrostic, cinquain, and 5 sense poem.
The only materials required for this project are 3 lunch sized paper bags per student, glue sticks, scissors and crayons/markers/colored pencils. That’s it!
If you like this project, check out my other paper bag book craftifivies (fantasy book reports & poetry paper bag books). I’ll be adding new ones, too, so make sure to follow “The Owl Spot” to receive the most up-to-date information.
