Celebrate spring with caterpillars, butterflies, and irregular verbs?!
Butterflies are a great analogy to use when discussing irregular verbs. With your students, discuss how in the past a butterfly was a caterpillar and the word fly was flew!
Use the following worksheets to show the students how the past tense caterpillars have been changed into present tense butterflies! Use the first worksheet for them to match some examples. Then have the students think of their own words to write on the second page. Finally, use the last page to create a butterfly!
Be sure to display in order to encourage proper use of irregular verbs in their writing, and enjoy the spring time atmosphere!
I hope you find this to be helpful!
