Butterfly Life Cycle Find and Write activity to do while learning about the butterfly life cycle. For this activity, you put fun themed cards around the room and students go around to find the pictures and write the word on their recording sheet. This is a great way to help them practice the vocab while also having fun!
For the chrysalis card, I also included the same card but with the word "cocoon" and also "pupa" for those who use those vocabulary words for the life cycle.
Find and Write is one of my absolute favorite activities. They are so fun and engaging for the students that they don't even realize they're working! It's easy to prep too - just quickly place the cards around the classroom (or you could let a student do it = fun
job!) If you're not already doing something similar in your classroom, I really recommend it to get the kids up and moving without sacrificing any learning. I recommend having it be a literacy center so there is only a small group of students doing it at a time. If you're worried about managmenet, don't be! They will be excited to find the words and it's a great way to "trick" them into being really engaged in their work. If you want to make it take longer or be more challenging, you can put the cards in harder to find places. :)
