Have your students keep a life cycle journal of a butterfly! I used this with my 4th and 5th grade students with Autism and it was a real hit! I purchased caterpillars and each day we observed the caterpillars and drew what we saw and wrote about what we saw and also wrote some predictions about what we thought would happen. The journal has a cover and a place for the student to write their name as well as a cute butterfly picture. The first page of the journal is where students write information about the butterfly life cycle and a place to draw the life cycle as well. Each journal page has two entries. You will need to copy the page as many times as needed to complete the whole life cycle. My students really enjoyed doing this - great hands on science! Enjoy! I also have a chicken life cycle journal as well for those of you who are brave enough to hatch chickens in your classroom!
