This pack includes all that you need to help your students write a report about butterflies! Perfect for grades 1 and 2!
Page 3: This is a list of butterfly facts that the teacher can use and share with the class. We collected facts as a class after reading multiple butterfly books together.
Page 4-6: These pages offer suggestions for students to use throughout their report writing. Ideas for topic sentences, sentence starters to introduce facts, and concluding sentences are included. I often write some of these ideas on chart paper or sentence strips while my students work.
Pages 7-12: These pages act as a great planning tool (graphic organizer) for your students’ prewriting stage. They may jot ideas or draw a quick picture in each box to help them plan their writing.
Pages 13-18: These pages offer an organized format for students to begin writing their report. The labeled sections help students remember the different parts of a report and stay organized! Multiple copies are included for different ability levels as well as different language used (wrap it up vs conclusion).
Pages 18-21: If you choose to have your students re-write their first version of their report (from above) I have provided three different writing pages.
Page 22: Students may use these half sheets to illustrate their report. These may be glued to the bottom of the final copy of the report.
