This activity is great practice for retelling a very popular story about a famished caterpillar. It also works on sequencing, and days of the week. These activities can be used as a worksheet, in a pocket chart, or center activity. This is included in my Butterfly Themed Literacy and Math Activities
Worksheet: This activity can be printed as worksheets for students to do or it can be put in a literacy center. Fold the days of the week paper in half so the days are showing on top. Cut along the line in between each day of the week so it makes a flip-book (be sure to only cut through the top paper). Cut out all the boxes with the food pieces. Lift up each day of the week and glue down the correct food that the hungry caterpillar ate that day. If made as a literacy center game, the students could velcro the pieces instead of gluing them down.
Pocket Chart cards: cut apart all of the cards and laminate for durability. You can print pg. 6 once and have kids use that 1 sentence to change out the day/# cards each time, or print pg. 6 seven times to make many sentences.
Life cycle flip book: Fold the life cycle paper in half so the sequencing words are showing on top. Cut along the line in between sequencing word so it makes a flip-book (be sure to only cut through the top paper). Students can then write or draw pictures of how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.
