GREAT FOR COMMON CORE AND PROJECT BASED LEARNING!
This lesson uses Stephen Vincent Benet's story "By the Waters of Babylon" to identify and explain the literary elements of Diction, Imagery, Details, Language, Syntax (DIDLS) and tone. The DIDLS Chart is completed as a students read the story. The chart is then used to create and present a collage. This project can be done in pairs, groups, or individually. *Rubric is included.*
**The same project could be adapted for use with any story or nonfiction piece and any literary or rhetorical devices.**
