This is a permanent classroom display of song-derived pentatonic (extending to high do) tonal patterns in C Major using the do key. One pattern prints on an 8.5 x 11" piece of paper. This resource is designed to print, laminate, trim (if desired), and hang around the top of your classroom wall. You may also use it by scrolling through the PDF using a projector or smart board. It is great to use for students to discover song-derived tonal patterns and to practice sightreading. Individual patterns may also be used to display a select pattern from song. When I complete the index of correlating songs, I will make that available to those who purchase the tonal patterns. The patterns included in this set are derived from “Ding Dong Diggy Diggy Dong”, “Billy Came Over the Main White Ocean”, “Tideo” (portion), “Riding in a Buggy Miss Mary Jane” (chorus), “Don’t Let the Wind”, and “’Liza Jane”. G Major and F Major are also available as separate purchases.
Patterns are numbered in the lower right-hand corner, and the borders of the patterns are color-coded:
